Sophia Leitenmayer is an artist, musician and curator based in Hamburg. Collective approaches are important for their work―developing interdisciplinary works at the intersection of sound
and object, film and performance. The working method is fluid, ephemeral and process-oriented, and social and political contexts drive their installations and interventions. The physical experiences of their hand-based practises and creating spaces for art and curating is accompanied by fields of research: self-organization, archives, rememberance practice, funeral eulogy, rest and desire.
At the moment Leitenmayer works on prosthesis, non-functioning bodies and repair of different live forms and explores mycelium materials. Previous works focused on the water systems of cities which the artist is listening to and resonating with by using hydrophone and saxophone.
